What We Believe
We believe in the triune God, the truth of Scripture, salvation through Jesus Christ, and a life of faithful obedience, worship, and discipleship.
What We Believe
The full statement of our beliefs, along with scriptural background, can be found in our Church Constitution. The Church Bylaws can be found here.
- God is the one and only God.
- God is the all-powerful, all loving and all wise Creator.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance doing what is right.
- The Bible is God's Word to all mankind.
- We are all made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character.
- Because of mankind's sin and separation from God, we need God's gift of salvation. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.
- We were all created to exist forever. God has given us a choice. We will either exist eternally separated from God by our sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation.
- Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation forever.
- The church is composed of baptized believers and faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. All Christians around the world throughout the history of time compose the church universal.
- Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby followers of Christ memorialize His death, examine themselves spiritually and anticipate His return.
- Jesus promised to to come again to receive His people to Himself for fellowship in Heaven. God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end.
- Baptists are an evangelistic people and consider it a duty and privilege to try to make disciples of all nations.
- All that we have and are we owe to God. We are taught to tithe and that 10% of our wealth belongs to God.
- The state owes protection and full freedom to every church and Christians owe obedience to government in all things not contrary to the revealed will of God. Therefore, the church and state, while mutually supportive, must be separate.
- A Christian life is one of spiritual growth and an unending pursuit of holiness in obedience and faith under the Lordship of Christ through the power of the Spirit.

History
From a small gathering in a home to a growing church on Gordon Road, our history reflects God’s faithfulness and a vision that continues to shape who we are today.
Our History
In the early 1970s, Spotsylvania County was a quiet, rural community—but change was on the horizon. Anticipating the county’s growth, the Missions Committee of the Fredericksburg Baptist Association began planning how to respond. As part of that vision, twelve acres of land were secured on Gordon Road with the hope that a new church would one day rise there.
By 1988, growth in Spotsylvania was underway, and the vision began to take shape. On September 11 of that year, 24 people gathered in a home for the first worship service. The fellowship quickly expanded, soon requiring larger meeting spaces. In 1991, the dream became reality as groundbreaking was held on the Gordon Road property. Just a year later, the congregation celebrated the completion of its first church building.
Today, that same site on Gordon Road remains home. The building, the congregation, and the ministries have continued to grow—carrying forward the vision that began decades ago.
